Limerick's Brendan Long joins CareerWise Recruitment as Executive Search Specialist
Limerick native Brendan Long has joined CareerWise Recruitment to cater for an increasing demand for the company's recruitment services and to augment its capability in general management, head of function, executive search, and supply chain recruitment,
Long has worked in the human resources/recruitment space in Ireland since 1988. On setting up his own specialist recruitment company - Brendan Long Associates - in 1997 he quickly secured tier 1 preferred supplier status with many of Ireland's leading multinationals including Dell , Apple, Xilinx, Novel, Wyeth, Boston Scientific, Intel, Trinity Biotech, RR Donnelly, Lucent, Motorola, Enterasys, Microsoft. His extensive experience in recruiting at director and senior /mid management level throughout the multinational sector in Ireland is complemented by his psychological profiling ability; he qualified as licensed practitioner in Insights Discovery in August 2009,
Making the announcement, CareerWise Recruitment's director Joe Robbins said that Ireland is a nation of two economies, one in turmoil and generating job losses, the second buoyant and unable to fill vacancies.
"Despite current job loss announcements, multinational companies are still very much open for business, and recruiting," says Robbins. "The numbers may not be in their hundreds or in multiples of ten, but there are still opportunities for job seekers in Ireland. We have 200 jobs on our books; we'd love to find suitable candidates for those vacancies."
CareerWise Shannon has also recruited Ennis native Fearghal Keane to its Shannon team. This brings the company's overall headcount to nine.
Keane's background is construction and manufacturing. He has worked extensively in the United States and England where he was employed by Canary Wharf Contractors, the UK's leading tall-building contractor, and was personally accountable for the delivery of the £5.5 million Canary Wharf project. His management expertise and competency enables him to identify and communicate the cost elements within a project. He recently graduated with a Diploma in Logistics & Supply Chain Management from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and is a chartered member of C.I.L.T.
"We are actively updating our database of suitable candidates and are seeking a very broad spectrum of capabilities ranging from management accountants; mechanical design engineers; senior system administrators; human resource generalists; production team leaders; test, software and materials engineers; a senior technical scientist; we need to find people to fill a lot of vacancies. It sounds unreal in a time when job loss announcements seem the norm. It's not the exception that some companies are recruiting; it's a reality that a large number of multinationals have jobs to fill. Perhaps it's time to summon some of our emigrants home; we're doing an executive search to find the right people," adds Robbins.
